All Progressives Congress (APC)
The All Progressives Congress, Lagos State is highly pleased with the decision of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola and the Lagos State Executive Council to cancel the new school fees regime for all categories of students at the Lagos State University, Ojo-Lagos.
The return to the ₦25,000/ session fees epitomises the State Government’s trade mark of always listening to the voice of the people and adjusting policies to accommodate their aspirations and welfare, whenever expedient, despite the daunting challenges of running a university with such paltry school fees.
Yesterday, Thursday 7th Aug 2014, the leadership of the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were set to instigate a social upheaval at the Lagos State University (LASU) convocation, over school fees. It was conceived as the opening glee of their mischievous chain of programmes vide which they thought a social crises could envelope Lagos State for PDP’s myopic political objectives.
We congratulate Gov Fashola for his magnanimity, and also for his courageous and very timely master-stroke which pulled off the carpet of social turbulence hitherto laid on political landmines by the Lagos State PDP.
Lagos State is known for peaceful co-existence of all its citizens, and this has been the bedrock of the successes recorded by successive regimes since the State was created.
Today, Lagos State remains the nation’s State of Excellence. This achievement was made possible because founding administrations had acted with altruism, decorum and candour. And this is now being made sustainable because the APC government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC government of Babatunde Raji Fashola have both raised the Lagos State banners sky-higher into the clouds!
We remain committed to these ideals of governmental excellence, because the APC regards this as a sacred duty that we owe to Lagos State and our dear country Nigeria.
We remain eternally committed to giving the best to all the citizens in terms of education, medicare, transportation, housing, agriculture, commerce, sports, etc.
To LASU students, we appreciate you for exhibiting decorum and maturity while your protests lasted, particularly so in the face of incitement by politicians who have lost their relevance.
To all the citizens of Lagos State, and indeed Nigeria, the best is yet to come!
Congratulations, Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola!
