Information available to 247ureports.com indicates that a Church in Kano located inside the Bayero University has experience a deadly bomb blast.
According to the information received, the explosion occurred at a lecture theater used for Church services by Christian sudents and residents of the university campus on Sundays. The bomb was reportedly planted under one of the staircases inside the lecture hall.
Along with the bomb blast, sporadic gun shots at the Kabuga junction near the entrance to the University campus was heard by eyewitnesses who also stated that the assailants shot openly at church attendees trying to flee the scene.
The Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Malam Dantiye confirmed the explosion to our correspondent.
The number of casualties was not immediately available.
A little over two weeks ago, a bomb planted under a vehicle parked at a popular outdoors bar joint in Sabon Gari – an area occupied by predominantly Christains exploded without death reported. The explosion was pegged a warning to the “infedels” to depart the “muslim areas of the north” according to the Islamic group, the boko haram.
