The newly 20 appointed Caretaker Committee Chairmen alongside their Deputies in the 20 Local Government Areas of the state have take oaths of office promised to provide effective and efficient service to the grassroots.
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state while speaking shortly after the sworn-in ceremony held at Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall on Wednesday in Bauchi, urged them to provide good governance at the grassroots.
The governor said they must strive to justify the confidence reposed in them by rededicating themselves to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people through effective and efficient service delivery.
Mohammed told the inaugurated Caretaker Chairmen that his administration attaches great importance to probity, accountability and strict adherence to due process in governance, hence the need for them to be judicious in handling the finances of their Local Governments.
He specifically directed them to pay special attention to the improvement of internally generated revenue (IGR) of their Local Government Areas, so as to complement what is given to them from the Federation Account.
The Governor warned all the Local Government Caretaker Committees that the present administration has no place for corrupt, disloyal, indolent and incompetent officials and as such they should be absolutely loyal to the administration in the State by being totally committed to its objectives.
“You have just witnessed the swearing in of the Chairmen of the 20 Local Government Caretaker Committees approved by the State House of Assembly. I wish to express my gratitude and appreciation to the former Local Government Caretaker Committees Chairmen along with their Councilors for creditably discharging their duties. It is their impressive performances that informed the reappointment of most of them.
“For the avoidance of doubt, let me clearly state that I will not hesitate to remove any Chairman found wanting or being disloyal to the Government or our great party, the PDP.
“I therefore urge the Caretaker Committee Chairmen to work hand in hand with their Councilors and Managements, and Cooperate with the Security Agencies, Traditional Rulers, Religious and Party Leaders, as well as other stakeholder in their domains in order to impact positively on the lives of the electorate.”
Responding onbehalf of twenty local government caretaker’s, the Chairman of Giade local government council, Usman Mohammed Randy expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for finding them worthy to be appointed in that capacity and promised to remain focus in ensuring effective service delivery in the area of providing dividends of democracy at the grassroots.
