ABUJA, Nigeria — Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso issued a national address marking the commencement of the campaign season for the 2027 presidential election.
In a public message released on social media, the political leader called on citizens to evaluate the nation’s socio-economic conditions while appealing for support for the joint presidential ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), featuring Peter Obi and Kwankwaso.
Addressing the public, Kwankwaso described the country as standing at a critical crossroads, pointing to pervasive economic difficulties, rising costs of essential items, and operational pressures affecting businesses and households. He also cited security threats across various regions, emphasizing the necessity of securing agricultural areas, educational institutions, and local communities.
Highlighting the coalition platform, Kwankwaso urged voters, young people, and business operators to back the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket. He emphasized that national recovery requires competent governance over regional or religious politics, calling on candidates and supporters to conduct their campaign activities responsibly and peacefully throughout the electoral process.
