By Okey Maduforo Awka
Four more than four years now , Ihiala local government area of Anambra state has been in darkness following the vandalization of electricity architecture by miscreants that held the area hostage .
Similarly communication masts and other facilities were uprooted by the miscreants hence disconnecting the area from the outside world a development that strifened socioeconomic activities in all the Communities.
Also affected are the schools and health care delivery facilities that were looted by the gunmen while private and communal property were also affected.
Consequently, the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Bar Chijioke Emmanuel Onyia has commenced the demand for the rehabilitation of the insecurity ravaged area contending that government Authorities have literally forgotten the Council Area.
“We all know that during this past three to four years, we had this unpresidented insecurity in Anambra state and there has been massive destruction and the worse hit is my area Ihiala”
“In fact there are parts of Ihiala that you cannot even access because of fear and our people continue to leave in fear and at some point our children can no longer go to school and our people cannot even go to the farms anymore and we have been living in fear for year now and that is why I am advocating for government to make policies that will promote Community and government corporation in providing security”
Onyia posited that there is the need for government intervention quickly promising that when elected as lawmaker he would jumpstart the process.
“Government needs to come in to rebuild those infrastructures that were vandalized by incidents of insecurity in the last four years and talking about vandalization, in last four years there has not been electricity in Ihiala and almost all the transformers within Ihiala were vandalized especially Ihiala Town “
“I will advocate and promote policies that will attract government presence in Ihiala 1 Constituency so that some of these infrastructures can be provided”
“We can achieve this through effective representation, effective leadership and that is exactly what I am going to do for the people of Ihiala 1 Constituency” he said.
