BAUCHI, Nigeria — Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have taken a 23-year-old man, Aliyu Suleman, into custody after intercepting him with 64 bottles of Methylene Chloride, a chemical substance locally referred to as “Suck and Die”.
The arrest was carried out during an intelligence-led operation by officers attached to the Vehicle Crime Response Unit at Bayan Gari in the Bauchi metropolis. Command spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib confirmed that the suspect, a resident of the Tudun Salmanu area, was searched by operatives who recovered the 64 bottles of Methylene Chloride alongside 17 pieces of rubber solution. The confiscated items have been registered as exhibits, and Suleman is assisting investigators while awaiting formal court arraignment upon completion of inquiries.
In light of the arrest, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed area commanders and divisional police officers across the state to step up surveillance and dismantle networks distributing harmful substances. Police authorities emphasized that curbing drug and substance abuse requires active public cooperation, calling on parents, guardians, and community leaders to support security agencies by promptly reporting suspected dealers and users.
