Agunechemba Hands Over 2 GPMGs, Rocket Launchers To Nigerian Army

The Agunechemba Security Squad in Anambra state recorded yet another fit in the area of fighting insecurity following the dislodging of a  camp of gunmen in Orumba North and South local government areas and ultimately recovered a catche of arms including two General Purpose Machine Guns ( GPMGs) and locally made rocket launchers which were  handed over to the Nigerian Army in the area.

Consequently,  the Chief Of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu has commended Governor Charles Soludo over the operations of the Agunechemba Security outfit reiterating that the Army would continue to partner with other sister security organizations such as Agunechemba in fighting crimes and criminality in the state.

This success story is on the account of intelligence gathering and undercover operations of the outfit at major security flash points in Anambra South Senatorial District in the last few days .

According to the Publicity Secretary of the outfit Mr Nweke Nweke in a statement; 

 “This gesture reflects the firm’s commitment to fighting crime and enhancing security in the state”

“The transfer took place on August  yesterday at the office of the Director of Operations in Awka, led by Chief Chinenye Ihenko “

“The Director of Operations described the transfer of these weapons as a strengthening of the partnership between the military and Agunechemba”

“He emphasized the significance of working together with federal security agencies and pledged to continue collaborative efforts to bolster security in the state”

Chief Ihenko, representing the Governor’s Special Adviser on Community Security Prince Kenneth Emeakayi, emphasized that the operations leading to the weapons’ recovery are considerable achievements for Agunechemba in the battle against banditry. 

He  further assured the public of their unwavering commitment to their responsibilities under the State Homeland Security framework.

Ihenkor popularly known as Okpompi,  praised the operation for its success, noting that their team incurred no casualties despite facing threats from armed attackers. 

“This operation is among our greatest achievements; our team performed valiantly without any losses. When confronted by the gunmen, they retreated, leaving their weapons behind and fleeing with injuries.”

He expressed appreciation to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for the support provided to Agunechemba, which he said has invigorated their efforts to reclaim areas previously dominated by criminals, particularly in Orumba North/South, Ihiala, and Ogbaru.

 He urged the community to reinforce their prayers for Agunechemba, emphasizing that tackling these issues requires collective effort.

Commending the accomplishments of the State Homeland Security firm, Anambra State House of Assembly Majority Leader, who also leads Agunechemba’s investigation unit, commended the State Government for adequately financing Homeland Security initiatives, highlighting that the passage of the Homeland Laws in 2025 has been affirmed by the successes achieved by Agunechemba.

Colonel Buteus M. Yakubu, the Commander of the 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support) in Onitsha, represented by Lieutenant P.O. Idowu, conveyed the Chief of Army Staff’s gratitude to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for Agunechemba’s achievements, noting that the Nigerian Army is pleased with the successful collaboration among the military, the Nigeria Police (Anambra State Command), and Agunechemba. He assured continued support for the State Homeland Security team.

“I will relay your commendable efforts to Colonel Buteus M. Yakubu, who I trust will inform military leadership across Nigeria. I am confident that Agunechemba will receive necessary support whenever required,” the Lieutenant concluded.

The event culminated in the formal handover of two military General Purpose rifles and a locally made rocket launcher, along with exchanges of pleasantries among personnel from the Nigerian Army, Agunechemba leadership, and various State Assembly members, including those from the State Homeland Security hierarchy.
