As Security Operatives Foil Plot To Disrupt Meeting

The Anambra state chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC has set up a five man Fact Finding Committee to investigate the lingering face within the party .
The Committee which was set up as part of the communique raised at a meeting in Abuja at the instance of the National Organizing Secretary of the party Mr Emeka Okafor as Convener nominated Chief Azuka Okwuosa as Chairman and Dr Mrs Oby Orah as Secretary while others include Chief Basil Iwuoba , Hon Dr Justin Nwankwo and Prince Tony Ezeimo as members.
Earlier before the meeting, security operatives foiled an attempt to disrupt the meeting when some expelled member of the party who were not invited tried to gain entrance into the meeting led by some expelled members of the party .
The attempt was made when Chief Ifeanyi Osegbo and Hon. Arinze Awogu arrived with a large number of persons of questionable dispositions.
Organisers stated that several of those who accompanied them presented invitation cards that were not recognised by the planning committee and whose names did not appear on the accredited list of participants. Security personnel were subsequently invited to manage the situation and escort the unaccredited persons from the venue, after which calm was restored and the meeting proceeded peacefully.
Serving as Moderator, Barr. C. J. Chinwuba reminded participants that matters currently pending before the courts were sub judice and therefore should not be discussed during the meeting. He urged speakers to concentrate on constructive proposals, reconciliation, and workable solutions capable of moving the party beyond the present challenges.
In her opening remarks, Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON, passionately advocated genuine reconciliation among party members. She stressed that peace must go beyond mere rhetoric and should be reflected in sincere actions, mutual respect, and deliberate efforts to rebuild trust. She also encouraged APC candidates and party leaders to embrace issue-based politics and grassroots mobilisation.
In his address, Barr. Emeka Okafor reaffirmed the commitment of the party’s national leadership to facilitating lasting peace within the Anambra chapter.
He announced the proposed constitution of a five-member reconciliation committee, which will engage all relevant stakeholders, objectively examine the concerns of various interest groups, and make recommendations that will promote enduring peace, strengthen internal democracy, and guarantee institutional stability within the party.
Contained in the 13 point communique , the stakeholders reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the unity, peace, progress and electoral success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State.
The Stakeholders at the meeting unanimously resolved that while the party is seeking internal mechanism to solve it challenges we Shall work very hard to give maximum Votes of Anambra State to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu come 2027.
The meeting acknowledged that the internal challenges confronting the party require sincere dialogue, reconciliation, mutual respect and adherence to the Constitution of the APC.
The meeting endorsed the call by Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON, that all party leaders and members should embrace genuine reconciliation, speak the truth to one another, and work together in rebuilding a stronger and more united APC in Anambra State.
The meeting further resolved that all stakeholders should respect the directives of the Deputy National Organising Secretary and cooperate fully with every initiative aimed at achieving lasting peace within the party.
The stakeholders adopted the aggregated opinions of all present at the meeting including that of the Convener, Barr. Emeka Okafor, for the constitution of a Five-Member fact finding Committee to comprehensively examine the issues affecting the Anambra State Chapter of the party and recommend lasting Solutions
Part of the terms of reference for the Committee is the it shall consult widely with all critical stakeholders, party leaders, State Executive members, Local Government Executives, Ward Executives, women, youths and other relevant interest groups, and thereafter submit recommendations that will promote lasting peace, strengthen internal democracy and enhance institutional stability within the party that will enable the party win elections.
The meeting urged all members of the APC in Anambra State to refrain from actions capable of deepening divisions and instead support every genuine effort aimed at restoring peace, confidence and cohesion within the party.
