Soludo offers automatic lecturing job, scholarships to 37 Ojukwu varsity 1st class graduating students

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state has offered automatic lecturing jobs to all the 37 best graduating students of various departments of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu University, COOU, Uli and Igbariam campuses, the state owned University.
He also announced a scholarship scheme for all the best graduating students in all federal and state government institutions from Masters to Doctorate Degree levels, after which they would turn back to assist the institution to achieve it’s targeted top three University in Nigeria.
Soludo who spoke at Igbariam campus of the University on Saturday during it’s 16th Convocation ceremony, said government and governing council of the university would also join hands to immortalize the founder of the University and first visitor, late former Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju for his immense efforts at establishing the university.
He promised to look into the requests made by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Kate Omenugha as regards the need to rehabilitate some roads, provide a staff club and ensure proper implementation of the minimum wage for both academic and non academic staff of the university, adding that government would equally liaise with the governing council of the university to handle the projects.
He commended Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of Catholic Diocese of Sokoto and Prof. Peter Onwualu for accepting to become the Chancellor and Pro-chancellor of the university respectively, adding that he was optimistic that they would bring their wealth of experience to bear.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Omenugha had commended Governor Soludo for appointing her as the 5th substantive and first woman Vice-Chancellor to occupy the position in 25 years.
Omenugha recalled that as at last year when she was still the acting VC of the university, she was able to clear the backlog of five years. 11th to 15th combined convocation ceremonies and now holding the 16th ceremony for the institution and pledged to do everything humanly possible to accelerate developments and ensure that Ojukwu’s name will continue to ring bell.
