JOS — Three missionary students from the Theological College of Northern Nigeria (TCNN), Bukuru, are currently fighting for their lives in a hospital after a brutal ambush by terrorists on Wednesday.
The students—Joshua Ata Danlami, a student popularly known as “Brother Pius,” and a third colleague—were returning from an evangelism outreach when they were intercepted by gunmen. Despite sustaining “terrible injuries” in the targeted assault, all three victims miraculously managed to escape the scene alive.
This latest attack has reignited cries of “Christians are not safe” in Northern Nigeria, especially coming on the heels of a bloody Easter season in Plateau State. Just last week, a similar wave of violence in Jos North forced the government to impose a curfew and led the University of Jos to suspend academic activities.
While the students are currently receiving medical care, the identities of their attackers remain unknown. Local Christian leaders and students are now calling for urgent global awareness, describing the incident as part of a calculated campaign against missionary work in the Middle Belt.
The TCNN management has yet to release a formal statement, but the atmosphere in Bukuru remains tense as fellow students and missionary groups gather to pray for the recovery of the survivors.
