TEHRAN — The Iranian government has officially rejected all further diplomatic negotiations, issuing a chilling ultimatum that the military “fire” ignited by the United States and Israel is poised to “engulf the entire world.”
In a high-stakes briefing on Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei accused Washington and Tel Aviv of pushing the Middle East past the point of no return. The defiant stance signals a shift from Tehran’s previous policy of “strategic patience” to one of total confrontation following a series of devastating airstrikes on its territory.
No More Room for Dialogue
Addressing the international community, Baghaei made it clear that Iran is no longer interested in the diplomatic overtures currently being brokered by Western intermediaries. He insisted that while Tehran had “favoured diplomacy from the start,” the continued aggression from its adversaries has made peace talks an impossibility.
“They must stop the war,” Baghaei said, referring to the joint military operations by Israel and the U.S. “If the international community chooses to stay passive, this escalation will not be contained. The fire they have started will burn far beyond the borders of the Middle East.”
A Global Warning
The Foreign Ministry’s rhetoric suggests that Iran is prepared to expand the conflict into a global theater. The warning of a “world-engulfing” fire is being interpreted by security analysts as a direct threat to international shipping lanes, global energy infrastructure, and Western interests across multiple continents.
The spokesperson’s remarks follow reports that Iran has placed its ballistic missile wings on high alert and has theoretically authorized its regional proxies—including Hezbollah and the Houthis—to launch coordinated, “unlimited” strikes.
“Strategic Passivity” Under Attack
Tehran’s ire was not reserved for its direct enemies alone. Baghaei took aim at neutral nations, warning that “passivity” would be viewed as tacit support for the U.S.-Israeli alliance. The ministry suggested that countries failing to condemn the recent strikes on Iranian soil would inevitably share the consequences of the coming “global escalation.”
The statement has sent shockwaves through European and Asian capitals, many of which remain heavily dependent on the stability of the Persian Gulf for their energy security.
The Brink of World War?
As the United Nations Security Council remains deadlocked, the language coming out of Tehran is the most aggressive in decades. With Iran officially rejecting the “olive branch” and doubling down on its military readiness, the prospect of a direct, multi-front war involving global superpowers has moved from a theoretical fear to a looming reality.
