ABUJA, NIGERIA – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has asserted that the sweeping infrastructure projects currently being executed in Abuja’s satellite towns will make it nearly impossible for any opposition to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the territory in 2027. Speaking during an inspection of ongoing road construction, the Minister maintained that the administration’s performance in previously neglected areas has effectively secured the political loyalty of the electorate.
Wike described the extensive development of rural and semi-urban infrastructure as a strategic advantage that the opposition cannot overcome. He argued that when a government provides tangible results such as roads, water, and schools, the people naturally align with the incumbent leadership. The Minister challenged his political rivals to find a campaign message that could compete with the visible transformation currently taking place across the FCT’s six area councils.
The Minister specifically highlighted the completion of over 150 kilometres of roads in satellite towns and the expansion of the Greater Abuja Water Project to areas like Karu and Orozo as evidence of the “Renewed Hope” agenda in action. He noted that several major projects linking key institutions and transport hubs are targeted for completion by the President’s third anniversary in May 2026.
Following the All Progressives Congress (APC) securing five out of six chairmanship seats in the February 2026 FCT Area Council elections, Wike pointed to these results as a definitive vote of confidence. Dismissing critics, he reiterated his total commitment to the President’s re-election, stating that the current pace of development has already redefined the political landscape ahead of the next general election.
