LONDON — A British-based content creator, popularly known as Oyinbo Naija Boy, has released a blistering video message targeting Seyi Tinubu and the Presidency following reports that Nigerians in the UK were paid to stage “solidarity rallies” during President Bola Tinubu’s state visit.

The creator’s outburst follows leaked videos from mid-March 2026, which allegedly show members of the City Boy Movement and other youths receiving cash payments of £500 (approximately ₦900,000) to cheer for the President in London and Windsor. Some reports suggest participants were paid £200 on the first day and a larger £500 sum on the second day of the royal visit.

“Nigerians are suffering and dying of hunger,” Oyinbo Naija Boy declared in the viral clip. “Meanwhile you, Seyi Tinubu, and your daddy shared £500 each with lazy youths in the UK to cheer you up. Shame on you.”

The allegations have sparked a “national outrage” back in Nigeria, where the cost-of-living crisis has reached a breaking point. Critics are calling the alleged payouts a “waste of scarce foreign exchange” and a desperate attempt to manufacture support in the face of massive anti-Tinubu protests staged by groups like IPOB UK and other activists at 10 Downing Street.

While Seyi Tinubu has been spotted at several high-profile events in London during the visit—including a gathering where he praised his father for “fixing the cracks” in Nigeria’s foundation—neither the Presidency nor the City Boy Movement has issued a formal rebuttal to the bribery claims.

The scandal has deepened the divide between the administration and the diaspora, with many questioning why such massive funds are being spent on “propaganda” while millions of Nigerians at home cannot afford basic food items.
