ABUJA — Senator David Jimkuta (Taraba South) narrowly escaped a major air mishap on Saturday after his private jet developed a technical fault mid-flight, forcing an emergency return to Abuja.

The aircraft was reportedly en route to Kashimbila for the Senator’s scheduled visit to Takum and Wukari when the pilot noticed a mechanical issue shortly after take-off. Acting quickly, the crew aborted the mission and touched down safely at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

A statement from the Senator’s office confirmed he was unhurt but noted the tension following the incident. Aviation authorities are expected to inspect the aircraft to determine the exact cause of the failure.
