AWKA — A heavy cloud of uncertainty hangs over the Regina Caeli Hospital in Awka today as an unidentified tricycle (Keke) rider lies unconscious, fighting for his life following a devastating accident near the Agu Awka area on Friday.
The victim, whose identity remains a mystery, was rushed to the facility after his vehicle was involved in a high-impact crash. Hospital sources indicate that while he is still alive, he remains in a deep coma and was found without a single piece of identification—no phone, no wallet, and no license—leaving medical staff with no way to reach his loved ones.
In a heartbreaking twist, the accident also involved passengers reportedly identified as staffers from the newly opened Ikenga Mall in Awka. While those victims are also receiving treatment, the focus remains on the rider, whose treatment is reportedly at risk of being stalled due to the lack of family representation to authorize critical procedures.
“He is someone’s son, perhaps a husband or a father who left home yesterday to hunt for daily bread but didn’t return,” one witness shared in a viral emotional appeal. “We are pleading with anyone who hasn’t seen their brother or friend who plys the Agu Awka route to come to Regina Caeli immediately.”
The community has been urged to circulate his description across social media platforms. If you have any information that could lead to his family, please visit the Regina Caeli Specialist Hospital in Awka or call the emergency contact line at +234 813 820 3196 without delay.
