Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state has stated that politics is over that the time now is for governance.
Soludo who stated this during his swearing in for a second term in office on Tuesday at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital, noted that having applied for the first tenure and the people employed him and retained him for a second tenure, he has no choice than to transform Anambra into a Dubai-Taiwan silicon state.
According to Soludo, “since Anambra people employed me and based on my impressive performance, they again retained me for a second term I have no choice than to give them whatever good thing they desire. I am going to improve our security architecture and power supply this time around, having gone far with infrastructural facilities,”.
Vice President Kashim Shettima who attended the event alongside former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan,. Chief Emeka Anyaoku, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and several state governors, including Siminalayi Fubara, described Soludo as a technocrat and assured him that the federal government would partner with him in achieving his target during his second term in office
Soludo who arrived the venue at 11:18 a.m. and took the oath of allegiance at 11:50 a.m., followed shortly by the oath of office administered by the state’s Chief Judge, was accompanied by his wife, Nonye Soludo, who stood beside him throughout the brief ceremony, even as he formally signed the oath documents at 11:55 a.m., marking the official commencement of his second term, which will run till March 17, 2030.
The governor was sworn in alongside his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim. Soludo’s returned to office follows a landslide victory in the November 8, 2025 governorship election, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission , INEC.
Running on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, he secured 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival,  Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, APC who garnered 99,445 votes. Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party , YPP came third with 37,753 votes.
Out of 16 candidates who contested the election, Soludo achieved a sweeping victory, winning in all 21 local government areas of the state. According to official figures, Anambra had 2.78 million registered voters, with just under 600,000 accredited voters and over 595,000 valid votes cast.
