ABUJA — The PDP Governors’ Forum has called on party members and supporters nationwide to remain calm and law-abiding ahead of the Court of Appeal’s ruling on the party’s leadership crisis, scheduled for Monday, March 9.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, described the upcoming judgment as a “defining moment” for Nigeria’s democracy. He urged party faithful to show maximum restraint, regardless of the court’s decision.
“The judiciary, as the custodian of justice, carries the weight of ensuring fairness and the preservation of national stability,” the statement noted. “Whatever the decision may be, the PDP reaffirms its respect for the judicial process and its commitment to peace.”
The Forum further disclosed that the party’s top brass will meet immediately after the judgment is delivered to review the outcome and determine the party’s next line of action.
Addressing concerns over the 2027 general elections, the governors reassured aspirants that the party remains a solid platform for their ambitions, despite the release of the INEC timetable. The statement emphasized that the PDP is prepared to offer Nigerians a “credible and people-centered alternative” in the next election cycle.
The statement, signed by the Forum’s Director General, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, concluded by praising the judiciary’s role in defending the constitution and maintaining democratic stability.
