From Mohammed Nasir Shuaibu BAUCHI
Political groups know as Kauran Bauchi Political Concern Group in Bauchi State have declared unwavering support for Governor Bala Mohammed, pledging to follow his political direction despite ongoing rumours of a possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The declaration came after engagements with over 50 political groups across the state, who described the governor as enjoying massive grassroots backing due to his “unprecedented developmental strides.”
The groups made their position through the chairman, Comrade Rayyan Adamu said the people of Bauchi remain solidly behind the governor and are prepared to align with any political decision he takes. “We are loyal to his leadership and will follow him wherever he chooses to go,” a representative said.
They, however, emphasised that their preference remains for the governor to stay within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing its role as a viable platform for sustaining his political relevance and influence.
According to them, the governor’s popularity has continued to grow both within the state and nationally, positioning him as a strong political figure ahead of future elections.
The groups also downplayed the strength of the APC in Bauchi, insisting that the ruling party poses no significant electoral threat in the state.
“Your Excellency, you are a man of your word. As earlier stated by you, no amount of threats will make you leave the PDP for the APC.
“Please strive to maintain the principles of your political role models, Malam Sa’adu Zungur and Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, in order to preserve your status as one of the most respected and outstanding politicians in Northern Nigeria.
“That is why many religious leaders continue to commend and pray for you, because you represent the interests of the common man”,.
He concluded by urging the governor to disregard calls for defection, describing such appeals as contrary to the interests of the state and the nation.
