A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned expelled members against attempting to forcibly occupy the party’s National Secretariat, warning that such actions would be met with legal action. The warning comes amid reports of a planned takeover by a faction loyal to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike
The PDP has informed law enforcement agencies, including the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, that the secretariat is a subject of pending litigation and any attempt to occupy it would be considered contempt of court.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, stated that expelled members, including Senator Samuel Anyanwu, had been planning to forcibly gain access to the secretariat, citing concerns over the party’s leadership and structure.
This development follows a series of clashes and power struggles within the PDP, with rival factions vying for control of the party. The Wike-led faction had previously taken over the secretariat, appointing Muhammed Abdulrahman as Acting National Chairman
The PDP has urged supporters to remain calm and allow the courts to resolve the dispute, emphasizing that democracy thrives only when institutions remain impartial and professional.
