Former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, has sparked controversy by revealing that his village lacks network coverage, leading him to opt for non-electronic voting. This admission has raised eyebrows, especially given Kalu’s current senatorial ambitions and promises of good governance for Abia people

Kalu, who served as governor from 1999 to 2007, has been credited with various development projects in Abia North, including road construction, education, and agricultural initiatives. However, critics question how his village remains disconnected in today’s digital age.

The Abia State government has recently partnered with WIOCC to deploy fibre optic infrastructure, aiming to improve internet connectivity across the state’s 17 local government areas, including rural communities
