ABUJA — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially begun uploading results from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
Following the conclusion of voting at 2:30 p.m. today, Saturday, February 21, presiding officers at various polling units across the six area councils—AMAC, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali, and Abaji—have started transmitting scanned copies of the Form EC8A result sheets.
Transparency Measures
The commencement of the upload is a critical step in INEC’s commitment to transparency, allowing voters, party agents, and observers to monitor the counting process in real-time. Despite earlier logistical challenges involving the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and last-minute voter reassignments, the commission has moved swiftly into the collation phase.
Current Status
As of this evening:
- Results from several polling units in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Bwari are already trickling onto the IReV portal.
- Collation is ongoing at the various Ward Collation Centres, from where they will be moved to the Local Government Area (LGA) Collation Centres.
- Security remains tight at collation points to prevent any disruption as final tallies for the 6 Chairmanship and 62 Councillor seats are determined.
Voters and stakeholders are encouraged to visit the official IReV portal to view the authenticated results from their respective polling units.
