The Edo chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is demanding that former national chairman John Odigie-Oyegun repay over N150 million in alleged outstanding loans and membership dues. The party claims Oyegun, who now leads the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accumulated these debts during his time as APC national chairman and Edo governor.
Oyegun has hit back, calling the allegations “baseless” and “politically motivated”. He believes the APC is panicking over the ADC’s growing influence, saying, “They now know they are in trouble. We are ready for them”
The APC’s Edo chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, stated that Oyegun ignored several repayment demands, prompting the party to go public. Oyegun’s aide, Dr. Isaiah Osifo, defended his boss, questioning Tenebe’s authority to comment on Oyegun’s finances
The spat highlights tensions between the APC and ADC, with Oyegun accusing the APC of dragging Edo State’s reputation down with “violence, intimidation, and abusive rhetoric”
