From the boundaries of Awka and Enugu state traversing the Ezu River to the swamp rice farms of Awba – Ofemili and from the borders of Igbariam in Anambra East Council Areas to Achalla the headquarters of Awka North local government area in the captured a pictorial of an abandoned or better put forgotten ten communities that had resigned to their fate .
The area which predominantly an agrarian settlement presents rustic villagers who before the creation of the old Anambra state could not boast of electric power supply while areas that were lucky to have seen a semblance of development is simply due to their proximity to Awka Capital City.
Successive administrations under the local government Council had tried without end to jump start the development process but a great number of work were begging for attention.
ThankGod Anagu Intervention Scheme ;
In the past 14 months of the advent of the Mayor of Awka North local government area Chief ThankGod Anagu it has been a homogeneous delivery of social security a development that has placed the area on the rise and had also show cased the rich socioeconomic potentials of the one forgotten Council Area.
Currently a total of 39 classroom blocks have been renovated and equiped under his watch while over twelve roads have either been constructed or attracted by the regime of Anago ..
In a bid towards fighting the challenges of insecurity in the area Anagu provided and installed security surveillance cameras in those communities which to a great extent has added tonic to the fight against insecurity in the area.
Similarly the Local government Secretarate of the Council area Achalla which had been a near recluse of itself has been given a face lift through the renovation of dilapidated buildings in the compound.
Buildings affected by this development include the main building as well as the Conference hall, as well as the R.T Hon Justice P.K Nwokedi Hall.
The perennial flooding and erosion challenges at most river line communities were also tackled through the erosion control projects at Ebenebe and neighboring towns hence saving over 36, 000 buildings and too many farm lands from being eroded.
Agricultural Outreach;
Being an agrarian settlement the regime of ThankGod Anagu has through the assistance of the state government empowered farmers in the area through its outreach.
The farming to feed program and the palm revolution have indeed fast tracked agricultural development in the area.
As Anagu takes Awka North to the next level Indigenes of the area are of the view that he needs more time to cap up the developmental strides in the Council.
