Three stalwarts of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA have emerged victorious in Tuesdays APGA stakeholders screening exercise in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state in preparation for the upcoming Local Government Chairmanship and Councillorship elections in the area.
Chief Okechukwu Obi from Obosi community clinched first position with 57 votes, while Hon. Ifeanyi Chiekwu, a one-time member of Anambra state House of Assembly that represented Idemili North state Constituency and Alphonsus Arinze Anagu both from Umuoji community came second and third with 47 votes and 7 votes respectively.
The trio had during the keenly contested exercise, edged out two others to emerge victorious.
With their victory, the trio are expected to compete with the incumbent Chairman of the Idemili North Council Area, Chief Stanley Nkwoka in the forthcoming in-house primary election where any of the four could be picked by APGA hierarchy in conjunction with Governor Chukwuma Soludo, the APGA leader, as the APGA candidate for the August council Chairmanship poll.
The exercise which took place at Idemili North Local Government Council Hall, Ogidi, was attended by the Secretary to State Government, SSG, Solo Chukwulobelu, Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor and other stakeholders.
The Council Chairman, Nkwoka who congratulated the trio for their victory, described the exercise as a credible, transparent, free and fair exercise.
Responding, Obi, the highest vote scorer thanked the voters for the confidence they reposed on him and urged them to prepare for the main election.
