President Bola Tinubu has received three reports detailing allegations that Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is undermining peace in Rivers State. The reports were submitted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership, the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), and a security agency through the National Security Adviser (NSA) office.
The APC Governors Forum, led by Governor Hope Uzodinma, is among those who reported Wike to the Presidency, citing concerns over his activities in Rivers State. The reports were received while Tinubu was on his end-of-year vacation abroad, which included visits to Europe and the United Arab Emirates.
*Allegations Against Wike:*
– *Undermining Peace Dialogue*: Wike is accused of sabotaging efforts to resolve the Ogoni crisis, particularly the compensation dispute between Ejama Ebubu community and Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC).
– *Political Feud with Fubara*: Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s disagreement has led to a power struggle, with Wike allegedly trying to undermine Fubara’s authority.
– *Money Laundering Claims*: Activist Omoyele Sowore has petitioned the Florida Attorney General, seeking forfeiture of Wike’s $6 million properties over alleged corruption
The situation is being closely monitored, with calls for President Tinubu to intervene and address the concerns raised against Wike. Meanwhile, Wike’s supporters argue that he’s delivered quality projects in Rivers State, including roads, healthcare facilities, and education infrastructure
