Abuja, Nigeria – A recent statement by Rt Hon Chibuike R Amaechi has sparked outrage and concern over the alleged spending habits of Rivers State Minister, Nyesom Wike. Amaechi claimed that Wike spends a staggering 50 million naira every week on alcohol, sparking questions about the minister’s priorities and accountability.
According to Amaechi, the alleged weekly expenditure is equivalent to the cost of building a primary school, which costs around 112 million naira. This means that, allegedly, Wike’s alcohol spending could fund the construction of a primary school every two weeks.
Amaechi’s statement has been met with widespread criticism, with many calling for an investigation into Wike’s spending habits. The minister has not publicly responded to the allegations.
The controversy comes amidst ongoing tensions between Wike and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who has been facing impeachment proceedings initiated by Wike-aligned lawmakers.
The development has raised concerns about governance and accountability in Rivers State, with many Nigerians calling for transparency and responsible spending of public funds.
