ABUJA — Chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Engr. Buba Galadima, has issued a stark and unequivocal warning to political actors planning to manipulate the 2027 general elections, declaring that any attempt to subvert the popular will would lead to a national catastrophe.

In a recent interview on Arise News, the veteran political strategist and Secretary of the NNPP Board of Trustees asserted that Nigeria has fundamentally evolved beyond the era where electoral fraud could be tolerated. Galadima challenged potential riggers to test the resolve of the current generation, warning that the consequences would be absolute.

“Nobody, I want to tell you, can afford to rig the elections in 2027. Nobody. Let them try it; we will all go down with it,” Galadima declared. He emphasized that a more politically conscious and “restive” younger generation has emerged—one that will not sit idly by while their mandate is suppressed.

The NNPP chieftain’s comments come amidst a volatile political climate, particularly following the seismic defection of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on January 23. Galadima dismissed the Governor’s exit as a quest for “personal survival” rather than the interest of the state, suggesting that the ruling party is using state institutions to forcefully consolidate power ahead of the next polls.

Galadima further challenged the re-election prospects of the incumbent administration, arguing that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alienated the nation’s largest voting demographic—the agrarian community. He pointed to the astronomical rise in the cost of farming inputs, noting that essential supplies like fertilizer have surged to as high as ₦70,000 per bag, effectively destroying the livelihoods of millions.

“No farmer in this country will vote for the APC again,” Galadima remarked. He argued that if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducts a truly free and fair contest, the ruling party would face a crushing defeat.

As of Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the Presidency has not issued a formal rebuttal to Galadima’s specific challenges. However, the veteran politician’s “do-or-die” rhetoric regarding electoral integrity signals a deepening desperation among opposition forces to ensure that the 2027 polls are not decided by state coercion or institutional manipulation
