Senator Dr. Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, on Sunday, 28th December 2025, joined dignitaries and community members in Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area, to mark the first memorial anniversary of the late Senator Annie Okonkwo, fondly remembered as Agunechemba Ojoto.
The event, held in honor of the former Senator of Anambra Central and father of Hon. Uche Okonkwo, the current Member of the Federal House of Representatives for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, drew family, friends, and political associates who gathered to celebrate his enduring legacy.
Senator Umeh, accompanied by his wife, Lady Prisca Umeh (Osodieme), commended the Okonkwo family for their commitment to preserving the values of their late patriarch. He praised their dedication to charity and service to the common good, describing these as hallmarks of Senator Annie Okonkwo’s life and leadership.
In his remarks, Senator Umeh urged the family to remain united in love and harmony, emphasizing the importance of sustaining peace and progress in line with the vision of their late father. He encouraged them to continue building on the foundation of selflessness and community service that Senator Okonkwo exemplified.
The memorial anniversary was both solemn and celebratory, reflecting the deep respect held for Senator Annie Okonkwo, whose contributions to Anambra State and beyond remain cherished.
