Police Move In as Revenue Agents, Okada Riders Clash in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested eight suspects following a clash between revenue collection agents and commercial motorcycle riders in the state capital on January 24, 2026.
Contained in a press release by the Command PPRO SP Nafiu Habib said the trouble began when a motorcyclist, Ayuba Abdullahi, was attacked by revenue agents near Wunti Gate for refusing to comply with multiple tax collections. Abdullahi sustained injuries, sparking a protest by his coworkers at the union’s office at Muda Lawal.
Habib explained that a joint police team swiftly responded, dispersing the crowd and arresting four suspects directly involved in the unrest: Naziru Yakubu, Tanimu Shuaibu, Danjuma Abdul, and Muktar Sale. Four additional suspects were arrested for damaging the VIO’s office and BAROTA’s building.
He said that the victim, Ayuba Abdullahi, is receiving treatment and expected to be discharged soon.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives involved and appreciated the Bauchi State Joint Motorcycle & Tricycle Riders’ association and public for their support.
According to PPRO said the situation is under control, and citizens are advised to resume normal activities.
