Abuja, Nigeria – The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has rejected calls for the resignation of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, warning that such moves are aimed at derailing the development of the FCT.
In a statement by its Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, the Forum expressed support for Wike’s efforts in transforming the FCT, citing significant infrastructure projects undertaken since his appointment. The group noted that Wike’s contributions to the APC’s victory in the 2023 presidential election surpass those of some party leaders calling for his resignation.
The Forum dismissed allegations that Wike’s involvement in Rivers State politics is a distraction, stating that the FCT is part of the North-Central region and Wike is committed to its development. The group warned against attempts to undermine Wike’s efforts, threatening mass protests in the FCT if calls for his resignation persist.
The North-Central APC Forum emphasized its focus on the development of the FCT and the North-Central region, urging Wike to ignore calls for his resignation and continue his work. The Forum had previously commended Wike for his developmental strides in the FCT [1].
