ABUJA — In a blistering assessment of the nation’s political trajectory, New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) chieftain, Engr. Buba Galadima, has declared that President Bola Tinubu faces an inevitable defeat in the 2027 general elections, provided the exercise is conducted under credible and transparent conditions.

Speaking during a high-profile interview on Trust TV’s “Daily Politics” program on Friday, January 23, 2026, the veteran politician and former ally of the President asserted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has effectively alienated its core voting demographics through “destructive” economic and agricultural policies. Galadima maintained that the widespread hardship currently experienced across the federation has made the administration’s re-election bid a “mathematical and social impossibility” in a fair ballot.

“The truth must be told,” Galadima stated. “If there is a free and fair election in 2027, I challenge President Tinubu to try it. He will lose. No candidate from the APC can secure a popular mandate under credible electoral conditions today.”

A significant portion of Galadima’s critique focused on the collapse of the agricultural sector, which he claimed has been “deliberately systematically dismantled” by the current administration. He pointed to the astronomical rise in the cost of farming inputs, noting that essential supplies like fertilizer have surged to as high as ₦70,000 per bag, placing them out of reach for the average Nigerian farmer.

“No farmer in this country will vote for the APC again. They have destroyed the very backbone of our economy,” Galadima remarked. He further alleged that the government’s reliance on food imports and the removal of critical subsidies have created a level of hunger and resentment that no amount of political mobilization can overcome.

The NNPP chieftain also raised concerns regarding the integrity of the upcoming 2027 polls, accusing the ruling party of utilizing state institutions to fracture and destabilize opposition parties to avoid a genuine contest. He described the ongoing internal crises in the PDP and Labour Party as “choreographed distractions” intended to clear the path for a one-party state.

Galadima’s remarks come amidst a flurry of similar predictions from other opposition stalwarts, including former APC Vice-Chairman Salihu Lukman and Labour Party leaders, who have cited the “Japa” syndrome and hyperinflation as indicators of a failed mandate.

As of Sunday, January 25, 2026, the Presidency and the APC National Secretariat have not issued a formal rebuttal to Galadima’s specific challenges. However, party loyalists have previously dismissed such projections as “merely speculative,” insisting that the President’s “Renewed Hope” reforms will begin to yield visible dividends for the masses well before the next election cycle begins.
