The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the brutal murder of a housewife, Fatima Abubakar, 35, and her six children at Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Kano.
The suspects, Umar Auwalu, 23, Isyaku Yakubu, 40, and Yakubu Abdulaziz, 21, were apprehended during a sting operation that lasted from 10pm on January 17 to 4am on January 18, 2026.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the leader of the syndicate, Umar Auwalu, a nephew of the deceased housewife, confessed to the crime and admitted that the group has carried out similar attacks in the past, including the killing and burning of two housewives at Tudun Yola Quarters, Kano.
Recovered items include four blood-stained clothes, two mobile phones belonging to the deceased, a cutlass, a club, and some amount of money stolen from the scene.
The Kano State Police Command commends the officers involved in the operation and assures the public of its commitment to bringing perpetrators of crimes to justice.
