Hon. Jafaru Suleiman Ribadu, a member of the House of Representatives and traditional title holder of Sarki Turawa Adamawa, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a development that has stirred political discussions across Adamawa State.
The resignation, dated 8th January 2026, was conveyed in a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Bako Ward in Yola South Local Government Area. In the letter, Hon. Ribadu announced his decision to withdraw from the party after what he described as careful reflection and extensive consultations with associates and stakeholders.
According to him, the decision represents a personal realignment with his beliefs, principles and future political aspirations. He expressed appreciation to the PDP leadership at all levels, as well as party members and supporters, for the opportunity to serve and for the support he enjoyed during his time in the party.
“I remain grateful for the trust and encouragement given to me throughout my stay in the PDP,” he noted, while emphasizing that his decision was taken in good faith and without animosity.
Although Hon. Ribadu did not officially disclose his next political destination, reliable sources indicate that he is expected to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a move that has further heightened speculation and anticipation within the state’s political space.
As of press time, the PDP in Adamawa State had yet to issue an official response to the resignation. Political observers believe the defection could have implications for party alignments and calculations ahead of future elections in the state.
Hon. Ribadu’s exit adds to the growing list of high-profile political realignments, reflecting the shifting dynamics within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
