A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Midala Usman Balami, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing persistent internal crises and factional divisions within the party.

Balami, who represents the Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency of Borno State, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Bwalahizhi Ward, Hawul Local Government Area of the state.

According to the resignation letter, the lawmaker said his decision followed wide consultations with leaders across political parties, as well as discussions with friends, family members, and close associates.

He explained that the growing internal conflicts and unresolved factionalism within the PDP have continued to weaken the party’s cohesion and effectiveness, making his continued membership untenable.

“This decision is informed by the deepening crisis and persistent factional divisions within the party, which have regrettably continued to undermine its unity and effectiveness,” the letter read in part.

Despite his decision to leave, Hon. Balami expressed appreciation to the PDP and its leadership for the opportunities and platform the party provided him, noting that his time in the party contributed significantly to his personal development and public service.

He also conveyed gratitude for the support and cooperation he received from party leaders and members throughout his political journey within the PDP.

The resignation letter was copied to the PDP Chairmen at the Hawul Local Government Area and Borno State levels.
