The Rivers State political war just went nuclear! Former Commissioner for Employment Generation and Empowerment, Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa (a staunch Fubara ally), has launched a savage attack on FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, calling him “politically drowning” and accusing him of desperation by pointing fingers at everyone else!
This comes amid escalating tensions, budget battles, and fresh threats from Wike – with even thugs disrupting media interviews!
The Brutal Slam
In a fiery statement on January 2, Nwibubasa didn’t mince words:
“Wike is politically drowning and looking for everyone to blame. He’s desperately seeking people to accuse as his influence slips away.”
He portrayed Wike as a sinking ship captain lashing out amid losing grip on Rivers politics ahead of 2027.
Drama Escalates: Thugs Storm Hotel During Live Interview
Just hours before his statement blew up, suspected political thugs invaded Londa Hotel in Port Harcourt on January 2 night, disrupting a live Arise News interview with Nwibubasa!
Armed assailants stormed rooms, chanting and searching for him and the crew.
Ironically, the same Arise team had covered a Wike event earlier that day in Omoku!
Nwibubasa condemned it as “unhealthy for democracy,” slamming intimidation of journalists and opponents.
No arrests yet, but fingers are pointing amid the Wike-Fubara feud reignition over supplementary budgets and control.
Background: Old Rivals, New Fire
Nwibubasa (ex-Wike appointee turned critic) has history clashing with the Minister:
Supported Atiku over Wike in PDP crises.
Rejected past “peace deals” as Fubara “surrenders.”
Now fully backing Governor Sim Fubara as Wike boasts of controlling structures (and mocks Fubara’s leadership).
Recent sparks:
Wike threatening to reveal secret 2025 peace agreement details.
Disputes over 2026 budget and alleged Fubara defection rumors to APC.
Wike ruling out Fubara’s second term.
Why This is Blowning Up
Rivers remains Nigeria’s hottest political battlefield! Wike’s federal power vs. Fubara’s grassroots surge – with 2027 looming. Is Wike really “drowning,” or is this Fubara camp propaganda?
Nigerians on X are divided: Some hail Nwibubasa for speaking truth, others see it as sour grapes.
