Anambra Police Arrest 10 Over Arson And Malicious Damage

Ten persons have been arrested by the Anambra Police Command following reports of arson and malicious damage allegedly perpetrated by some suspected thugs at a village in Awka Capital City.

It was alleged that some people had gone to a said property in Okpuno demolished walls and ultimately set a bungalow ablaze in the land .

It was alleged that the incident was masterminded by one Gabriel Ositadimma whose Chieftaincy tittle was proscribed by Anambra state government as it came from Ozo Austin Ndigwe

Confirming this report , the Police Public Relations Officer , SP Tochukwu Ikenga dismissed the claims of the suspects that it has do do with land dispute.

“The Anambra State Police Command has arrested ten suspects in connection with an alleged case of arson and malicious damage to property, refute claims circulating within the community that the incident was linked to a land dispute involving Agbana Ifite, Awka”

“The Command described the land-grabbing allegations as false, misleading, and capable of causing unnecessary tension, stressing that the suspects were arrested strictly for criminal acts involving arson and destruction of property”

“Given the above the Command states that investigations are ongoing and assured the public that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations”

“The Anambra State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and urged residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information”; he said.
