The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim, has been honoured with another prestigious traditional title, this time, as “Ekwueme Amansea” by the people of Amansea community in Awka North Local Government Area of the state.

The chieftaincy title was bestowed on the Deputy Governor by the traditional ruler of Amansea, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Peter Chukwuma Anigbogu, in recognition of Dr. Ibezim’s outstanding service, humility, and contributions to governance and grassroots development in Anambra State.

The honour is coming barely three months after the Deputy Governor was similarly conferred with the chieftaincy title of “Ìfè Mbaukwu” by the traditional ruler of Mbaukwu, Igwe Peter Anugwu, in September 2025, in appreciation of his commitment to service and development. His wife, Lady Oluchi Ibezim, was also honoured at the time with the title “Ugogbe Mbaukwu.”

The latest chieftaincy title of “Ekwueme Amansea” was officially bestowed on the Deputy Governor over the weekend, while the formal reception of the certificate took place a day later in a low-key ceremony attended by his wife, Lady Oluchi Ibezim, as well as few community members and cabinet chiefs.

Conferring the title and presenting the certificate to the Deputy Governor, Igwe Anigbogu described him as a dependable leader whose actions speak louder than words, noting that the title Ekwueme symbolises truth, consistency, reliability and loyalty. The monarch commended the Deputy Governor for his calm disposition, accessibility and steadfast support to the people of Amansea and Anambra State at large.

The traditional ruler further stated that the honour was the community’s way of identifying with the Deputy Governor’s service to humanity and aligning with the progressive leadership of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s administration.

The royal father also prayed for divine wisdom, strength and protection for the Deputy Governor and his principal, further urging him to remain steadfast in his commitment to service and good governance. He further re-assured of the continued prayers and support of the Amansea people for the Solution Government, while also expressing confidence that the role of the current administration would continue to translate into meaningful development for communities across Awka North and Anambra State at large.

Responding shortly after receiving the chieftaincy title and the certificate, Dr. Ibezim expressed gratitude to Igwe Anigbogu and the entire Amansea community for the honour bestowed on him, describing the title as a call to higher responsibility, deeper commitment and greater service to the people.

The Deputy Governor also appreciated Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for his leadership, mentorship and support, noting that the recognition would further motivate him to work harder in advancing the administration’s development agenda, especially as preparations for the next term gradually take shape.

Dr. Ibezim reiterated his commitment to supporting Governor Soludo’s vision of sustainable development, people-centred governance and inclusive growth across Anambra State. He pledged continued loyalty to the people of the state, while using the opportunity to thank the people of Amansea for their overwhelming support during the last gubernatorial election.

The Deputy Governor further assured the community that he would continue to identify with their aspirations and support projects and initiatives that promote peace, progress and unity, stressing that traditional honours should always translate into tangible service to the people.
