BAUCHI — Governor Bala Mohammed has issued a high-profile commendation of the Nigerian Army’s operational successes, describing the military’s strategic presence as the primary anchor for the relative tranquility and peaceful coexistence currently enjoyed across Bauchi State.
Speaking on Saturday, January 24, 2026, during the annual West African Social Activities (WASA) hosted by the 33 Brigade at the Shadawanka Barracks, the Governor—represented by his Chief Security Adviser, retired DIG Sani Mohammed—emphasized that the professional conduct and relentless sacrifices of the troops have been instrumental in shielding the state from the broader volatility and insurgent pressures affecting the Northeast region.
The Governor specifically lauded the Army’s “proactive and multi-dimensional” approach to internal security, noting that their intelligence-led operations have successfully mitigated the risks of kidnapping, cattle rustling, and the infiltration of non-state actors along the state’s porous borders. He highlighted the significance of the WASA event as more than just a cultural celebration, but as a vital institutional tool for fostering unity, cultural diversity, and high morale among the rank and file, their families, and the host communities.
According to the Governor, the military’s success in Bauchi is deeply rooted in a robust civil-military relationship, which his administration has deliberately prioritized to ensure that security operations are both effective and respectful of the dignity of the Bauchi people.
Further expanding on the state’s partnership with the military, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to providing enhanced logistical support, including the provision of operational vehicles and the upgrading of critical infrastructure within military formations to bolster their readiness. He pointed out that while the nation grapples with complex security challenges, Bauchi remains a haven of stability due to the “steady hand” of the 33 Brigade and other security stakeholders.
Through his representative, Governor Mohammed urged the personnel to maintain their resilience, focus, and patriotism, stressing that their dedication remains the ultimate guarantee of the state’s progress as they navigate the evolving security landscape of 2026. The Governor concluded by tasking the military leadership to remain neutral and professional, ensuring that the peace established is sustained through the upcoming political cycles.
