Legal practitioners from Ebony state based in Anambra state has condemned the negative profiling of their brothers and sisters in the state contending that instead, the erring ones should be guided and mentored.
The lawyers totaling over 100 based in Anambra noted that Ebony people are known for being of good conductor and have positive functional members of the society bluffing in various legitimate trades in the area.
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Association during the presentation of Award of excellence to the Commander of Special Ant – Touting Squad and the Agunechemba Security outfit Hon Monday Nwokoye .
In his remarks, Hon. Nwokoye thanked the Association for acknowledging him and urged members to continue their commitment to justice, professionalism and service to humanity.
He also commended the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for what he described as the governor’s remarkable developmental strides and effective governance across the state.
The security chief noted that Ebonyi indigenes resident in Anambra State are excelling in various fields and have earned respect through discipline and good conduct.
He revealed that the Ebonyi community’s positive attitude has impressed the state government, while calling on Ebonyi people to remain their “brother’s keeper” by correcting and guiding anyone found going astray, rather than condemning them.
Continuing the Chairman of the Association, Barr. Victor C. Alo (JP), who received a distinguished audience of learned silks, academics, senior lawyers, security chiefs, members of the press and other guests of honour. Barr. Alo described the ceremony as a celebration of excellence, recognizing individuals who have distinguished themselves in law, academia, leadership, security and business.
He highlighted the growth and impact of the Anambra-based Ebonyi Lawyers Association, a voluntary body of over 100 Ebonyi indigenes practicing law across major cities in Anambra State.
He also reiterated the Association’s commitment to unity, welfare, promotion of the rule of law and access to justice, including plans to unveil the Ebonyi Free Legal Service Foundation to provide free legal aid to indigent persons.
The Award of Honour formally presented to Hon. Nwokoye on Saturday, December 20, 2025, marked a high point of the programme, with participants describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his leadership, security contributions and philanthropic efforts.
