…NNPP APPOINTS ABIYA AS ACTING KANO STATE CHAIRMAN FOLLOWING DUNGURAWA’S SACKING
Kano, Nigeria – The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Kano State chapter has appointed Hon. Abdullahi Zubairu Abiya as Acting State Chairman, following the sacking of Hashimu Dungurawa.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the State Executive Committee at the party’s Kano secretariat. Barrister Yusuf Mukhtar, NNPP Assistant Legal Adviser, said Abiya’s appointment followed the party’s constitution.
The Dawakin Tofa Local Government Executive Committee had submitted a resolution expelling Dungurawa for alleged anti-party activities. The State EXCO endorsed the decision, citing the need for internal discipline and party cohesion.
Abiya pledged to work towards strengthening the party and remaining loyal to national leader Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Kano Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The development is seen as a bid to reposition the NNPP for future political engagements in Kano State.

Hashimu Dungurawa, the embattled NNPP Kano State Chairman, is refusing to step down despite being sacked by party executives in his ward. He insists he’s still the legitimate chairman, claiming the expulsion was a “child’s play” without due process.
Dungurawa argues that no ward executive has the authority to expel a state chairman without proper ratification. He’s reaffirmed his loyalty to NNPP and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, saying he’s committed to the party’s ideals.
Meanwhile, Senator Kwankwaso is reportedly holding talks with stakeholders to resolve the crisis and strengthen party unity. There’s also speculation about Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf potentially defecting to APC, which has sparked mixed reactions within NNPP
