Nine members of various secret cults have denounced their respective memberships in Anambra state.

This development is on the account of the directive by the Special Adviser to Governor Charles Soludo on Community Security Prince Kenneth Emeakayi to the operatives of the Agunechemba Security Squad to rid the state of Cultism.

The nine former cultists who were at the headquarters of Agunechemba Security Squad in Awka appealed to the outfit for forgiveness and vowed to be committed to having a positive impact on their families, communities, and the state, voicing regret for their participation in cult activities without considering the repercussions.

According to a statement issued to the press in Awka today by Mr. Nweke Nweke, the Media Publicity Secretary for Agunechemba, the meeting took place at their operational headquarters, with the parents of the remorseful members present to witness their sons’ reintegration back into society.

It is worth noting that recently, Prince Ken Emeakayi, Special Adviser on Community Policing for Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, directed Agunechemba operatives to ensure that youths involved in cult activities are not afforded any leniency.

Prince Emeakayi believes that most criminal activities, such as kidnappings and ransom extortion from innocent individuals, stem from cultism.

Representing his peers, one of the youths who has repented and wished to stay anonymous, committed that they will never returned to ‘Egypt’ but to instead pursue a holy path.

He requested forgiveness from those they had offended during their cult activities and vowed to make restitution for their past misdeeds.

Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, who serves as the Chairman of the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Internal Security and House Majority Leader, praised the repentant cult members for their decision to reintegrate and encouraged others to follow suit.

Through the medium, Hon. Ofodeme appealed to the young people in the state to hastily disavow their membership in cults, stating clearly that cultism yields no benefits and is capable of destroying one’s life and future.

As the representative for Ekwusigo State Constituency, Hon. Ofodeme instructed the leadership of Agunechemba to compile a profile of the remorseful cult members and submit it to the State Police Commissioner, CP Ikioye Orutugu for recognition and documentation.
