Metu Announces Scholarship Scheme For 5 Nnewi Correction Center Inmates Commences Sinking Of Borehole

Former National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party PDP Chief Olisa Metu has announced a scholarship scheme for five inmates of Nnewi Correction Center in Anambra state to University level.

Also Metu announced the sinking of water borehole for the Correction Center in the bid to stem lack of portable drinking water at the Correction Center.

Making this announcements at Nnewi as part of the activities marking his 60 year birthday, Metu recalled that he had been an inmate of a Correction Center before and understands how it feels to be behind bars but was quick to admonish the inmates that this is not the end of the world.

“I have come here to give you hope and for those of you that are minor offenders I would expedite action in securing your bail ”

“I have a scholarship scheme that would train five of the inmates of this Correction Center up to the University level and I also know that you have problems related to access to good drinking water and that is why I am l sinking a water borehole here in Nnewi Correction Center ” he said.

Metu urged the inmates not to lose hope noting that one has to be in full body and soul to overcome the challenges of being behind bars.

“Though you are here , let your body be here and not your soul and your soul shall be where you want it to be when you come out of here ”

“Myself have been here before and today I am visiting to celebrate my 60th birthday with you ” he said.

Metu also visited the Old Rev Father’s Home in Nnewi as well as the St Andrews Anglican Church Nnewi where he shared gift items , food items as well as wheel chairs to the physically challenged people
