From Mohammed Nasir Shuaibu BAUCHI
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has placed citizens at the heart of government planning as he presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill, tagged “Budget of Hope and Consultation”.
The budget, worth over ₦878 billion, was unveiled at the International Conference Centre, Bauchi, with a strong emphasis on community-driven development.
Governor Mohammed said the proposal was designed after robust engagements with the public including town hall meetings, stakeholder inputs, and sector-wide consultations to ensure that government spending directly addresses the most pressing challenges faced by residents.
“This is a budget informed by the people themselves,” he assured, noting that the document reflects realistic priorities shaped by both economic realities and public expectations.
Key spending areas include education, healthcare, agriculture, rural access roads, potable water supply, and youth empowerment sectors the governor described as essential to improving living conditions and stimulating economic growth.
He further vowed to complete ongoing projects while embarking on new initiatives that would enhance productivity and job creation across the state.
The Bauchi State House of Assembly commended the structure of the fiscal plan and pledged a thorough, timely legislative assessment in the interest of good governance.
