In a move considered as a final face-saving throw of the dice before votes are cast on November 8, 2025 Anambra Gubernatorial elections, the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince, Evangelist Nicholas Ukachiukwu has appealed to the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo to leave his home town, Ọsumenyi, for him as show of compassion for old times sake from the impending APGA electoral landslide across Anambra communities. In return, Ukachukwu assured that he will curtail the excesses of political miscreants who prowl the area during elections.
Evangelist Ukachukwu reportedly made the plea to Soludo in a leaked confidential midnight conversation in Awka Thursday as part of rapproachment between the gubernatorial gladiators following the Peace Accord signed by the parties at the instance of the National Peace Committee and the Kukah Centre.
The ongoing Anambra Gubernatorial electioneering campaign has been dominated by Professor Soludo’s APGA with thier innovative community-based support and sponsorship which took the opposition unawares, thus limiting their chances of winning any polling unit. Informed sources within the opposition camp revealed that Evangelist Nicholas Ukachukwu is wary of a repeat of the devastating defeat at the polls and has decided to reach out to Professor Soludo.
According to the source, Evangelist Ukachukwu’s outreach to Professor Soludo is seen as a face-saving attempt to avoid a repeat of the humiliation suffered by the APC candidate and others who lost their polling booths to APGA during the Anambra South Senatorial District By-elections.
Attempts to reach Governor Soludo to confirm the rapproachment and new found camaraderie with Evangelist Ukachukwu proved abortive as he was said to be busy fine-tuning his strategy for the elections.
It needs be recalled that in the past when Evangelist Ukachukwu ran for a Senate seat on the ticket of APGA he equally lost woefully. He has seen that he can hardly win any election on his own in Anambra State. It is against this background that he is now requesting Governor Soludo to help him save face by letting him win his home base of Osumenyi.
