Gubernatorial running mate of the All Progressives Congress APC Sen Uche Ekwunife has condemned in it’s entity a vital video alleged to have shown her disagreeing with her candidate Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu at the venue for the signing of peace accord ahead of Saturday’s election in Anambra state.
Ekwunife further described the video as an aftrot by the opposition to misreprent facts and the true picture of what happened at the venue dismissing it as malicious.
She explained that she was to represent her gubernatorial candidate Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu at the function but had to attend to order pressing issues when she discovered that her Principal was already sited hence she had to leave the venue.
She accused the media handlers of Governor Charles Soludo of masterminding the falsified video aimed at malining her image and that of Ukachukwu.
In a release by the Special Adviser to Ekwunife on Media and Publicity Mr Tony Ezike it contended that ;
“The viral clip, released by Soludo’s media aide, Amb. Izuchukwu Adichie, reportedly contained a voiceover that misrepresented events at the venue, suggesting a disagreement involving the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Senator Uche Ekwunife”
“According to eyewitness accounts from the APC camp, Senator Ekwunife had been invited by the organisers to represent the APC Governorship Candidate, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu (MFR), who was yet to arrive at the time”
“However, upon arrival at the venue, she discovered that Ukachukwu had since joined the event and was already seated”
“Ekwunife, who was already on a tight community engagement schedule, reportedly informed Ukachukwu that she would continue with her itinerary since he was now present”
“At that point, the APC State Chairman, Hon. Basil Ejidike asked Ekwunife to come back and exchange pleasantries with the governor, but she told him that she was already behind schedule as people are waiting for her in different communities”
“Ejidike also confirmed that he accompanied her to her convoy as she left the venue peacefully”
“The APC team condemned the alleged manipulation of the video clip, accusing Governor Soludo’s camp of attempting to twist the incident for political gain”
“This act of misrepresentation on the day candidates were signing a peace accord clearly shows that Governor Soludo and his team are not ready for a peaceful election,” a statement from the campaign team read”
The statement further advised the general public to dismiss the politically motivated antics of Soludo’s team, describing it as another desperate attempt to divert attention from the administration’s failures.
It added that all such deceitful propaganda would soon be history in a few days as Anambra people prepare to make their voices heard at the polls.
She urged the people of Anambra to remain vigilant and resist attempts to distort facts, adding that the forthcoming election should be a contest of ideas, not propaganda.
