The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, on Friday, November 1, 2025, decorated fourteen newly promoted officers of the Command in a brief but colourful ceremony held at the Police Headquarters, Awka.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the event also featured the formal unveiling of the newly renovated Commissioner of Police Hall, a project graciously facilitated through the goodwill and benevolence of His Royal Highness, Otonye Efebo, PhD (Shidi VII), the Amadabo of Shidi-Ama, Twon-Brass, Bayelsa State. The gesture, the CP noted, underscores the enduring partnership between traditional institutions and the Nigeria Police Force in fostering community-oriented policing and improving service delivery.
While congratulating the newly promoted officers, CP Orutugu urged them to view their elevation as a call to greater service, renewed discipline, and higher commitment to professional excellence. He reminded them that promotion in the Force is not only a reward for past performance but also a challenge to deliver greater results in their future assignments.
The Commissioner commended H.R.H. Otonye Efebo for his patriotic contribution and constant support to the Command, describing the gesture as an inspiring example of how traditional institutions can complement the efforts of the Police in enhancing security and community development.
He explained that the renovated hall will serve as an improved space for strategic meetings, capacity-building sessions, and conferences that strengthen the Command’s operational efficiency.
During the visit, His Royal Highness Otonye Efebo, who hails from the same Brass Kingdom as CP Orutugu, expressed delight over the Commissioner’s remarkable leadership, visible policing strategies, and ongoing efforts to build strong community relations in Anambra State. He reaffirmed his continuous support for security initiatives that promote peace, discipline, and stability in the region.
According to the statement, the officers decorated during the ceremony include CSP Ikpeama Joy Chidimma (DPO Main Market, Onitsha), CSP Asso Emmanuel Agbuka (DPO Amanuke), CSP Nuhu Azeez (Officer-in-Charge, Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Obosi Sector), CSP Onyilo Thaddeus (Officer-in-Charge, Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Onitsha Sector), and ten others.
