From Mohammed Nasir Shuaibu BAUCHI
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has declared Friday, November 28, 2025, as a work-free day in honour of the late Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
The State Government, in a statement signed by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, said the gesture is to enable civil servants, students, followers of the revered cleric, and residents to fully participate in the funeral rites scheduled for Friday in accordance with Islamic tradition.

Governor Mohammed described Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as a towering figure in Islamic scholarship whose teachings and service to humanity have left an indelible mark on Nigeria and beyond.
According to the statement, the decision reflects the government’s recognition of the scholar’s lifelong contributions to Qur’anic knowledge, spiritual mentorship, and the promotion of peace, unity, and moral values in society.
“As the state mourns this monumental loss, citizens are encouraged to pray for the repose of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi’s soul, and extend support to his family, students, and followers,” the statement read.
Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, a globally acclaimed Islamic leader and respected spiritual guide, passed away earlier this week, prompting an outpouring of grief from leaders and devotees across the Muslim world.
