An Anambra-based Anglican cleric has been reportedly hospitalized after some suspected government officials in charge of emblem enforcement reportedly gave him a hot chase that forced him into a bush where he reportedly crashed with his vehicle.
The incident was said to have happened on Tuesday, November 4th and resulted in the priest sustaining multiple severe injuries.
According to reports, the Anglican cleric, serving at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church Orsumoghu in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state was (under the Anglican Diocese of Nnewi) was returning home after work, driving on a branded vehicle of the Diocese when he came across the said government’s agents along the road, who then gave him a hot chase.
This was corroborated by a video currently trending on social media, showing the vehicle of the said priest’s where it eventually crashed inside bush.
Although, the identity of the priest is yet to be ascertained as at the time of this publication, a voiceover that accompanies the video recounted that the priest was rushed to the hospital, further showing the crashed vehicle where it was abandoned inside the bush.
The narrator also decried the commando style and unprofessional approach of some government agents in discharging their duties, wondering why they should chase a priest in such a dreading manner and in such a place that is still recovering from the scars and previous tragedies of insecurity, despite knowing that he’s a priest and despite seeing the inscriptions on the church branded vehicle.
He further called on the state Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to call the government agents to other and ensure they are given the necessary training to professionally discharge their duties.
