Governorahip candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the November 8, 2025 election in Anambra state, Dr. George Moghalu, has rejected the outcome of the exercise that gave victory to Governor Charles Soludo of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).
In a press conference in his Uruagu Nnewi country home, the LP candidate rejected the outcome of the election in its entirety, citing irregularities such as underage voting, vote buying and selling, voter intimidation, among other infractions.
He said, “The election is not free and fair. There are cases of vote buying. In many cases, result sheets were not there, but elections were going on. Cases like that abound with evidences. On the social media, you see people carrying money and giving money.
“There were also cases of voter intimidation. In Idemili North, one of my major supporters was beaten; but that shouldn’t happen. They came to pick him up from his house but he resisted, so, they beat him black and blue.
“INEC has their own shortcomings and failures. Security agencies, on their own, assured us of protection. That was why they sent 45,000 policemen, over 20 CPs, AIGs, DIGs and so on; but at the end of the day, they were not able to stop vote buying. Vote buying was everywhere; it was visible. The truth is that the entire process was faulty. Vote buying was at an alarming rate in the November 8 governorship election.
“Another issues that came up during the election was underage voting. There were people that supposed not posses voters cards, but they did. Where did they get it? They got it from INEC. People in INEC registered them, and you understand the implication. The implication is that underage voters are suceptible to manipulation and being guided.
“Again, in many areas, LP logo was in the ballot paper, but the name is not there. There are people who may know the name but wouldn’t know the logo. All these infractions are issues that marred the election.”
He said that his party and his campaign organization would analyse the issues critically and know what steps to take.
Meantime, Former Governor of Anambra. State and ex-Minister of Labour & Employment, Sen Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige MD, CON has congratulated Governor Charles Soludo on his landslide victory at the Governorship election held on Saturday, November 8.
Ngige said that Soludos victory and win in all the 21 Local Government is like a referendum on his management of the state since 17th March 2022 when the State was entrusted in his care, economically and politically.
According to Ngige, “Some of us had publicly attested to the excellent fiscal policy and gargantuan infrastructural and human resources development of our homeland by the Governor.
Only God is perfect.
“So this second recruitment/missionary affords the Governor an ample opportunity to rededicate himself to working for the people with greater zeal to ensure the people’s welfare and security of their lives and property as enshrined in Section 14 (2)b of the Nigerian Constitution 1999”.
“Where mistakes through actions or inactions were made, a golden opportunity for correction is now here. May the good Lord guide you, bless our State, Anambra and our country Nigeria. Odenigbo, carry go”.
