Two Dead , Two Escape As Trailer Crushes Keke Tricycle In Anambra

Tragedy struck at the early hours of Thursday in Onitsha Anambra state when a trailer crushed two persons who were in a Keke tricycle along Onitsha – Owerri road .

Reports had it that the trailer was conveying a container along the said road and while it was making attempt to mianda through the deplorable road, the container fell off and landed on the Keke Tricycle which resulted in the death of two persons.

However, two other persons escaped from the accident unhurt as members of the public battle without end to save the two victims before they finally gave up.

Confirming the incident, the Anambra Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Bridget Asekhaumo said that immediately the accident occured the outpost station RS5,31A were prompt to interven in the incident.

Asekhaumo however lamented the impatience of most road users which according to her have resulted in several accidents .

She urged road users not to be in a hurry while driving adding that few minutes of patience can avert the urgly incident that occurred at Onitsha.

Recall however that there have been public outcry over the hopeless state of the Onitsha – Owerri road which little or no efforts have been made the put the collapsed potions in motorable condition.

Similarly some other options of the Onitsha – Owerri road have been eroded by flood which has created deep gullies and washed away one lane of the high way .

Meanwhile, the Minister for works Engr Dave Umahi has sent a team to inspect on the collapsed potions of the road in bid towards carrying out permanent work on the said high way .
